Gahzrim Dulac, the head of the Zhentarim faction in Mentol Derith, asks the group to get to the bottom of the madness that has overtaken Mentol Derith. They proceed to confront Duergar, Svirfneblin, Drow, and Human factions and finally retrieve a gem stone that seems to corrupt anyone who touches it. Despite a high body county by the party, the Duergar are satisfied that peace has returned to the city and agree to provide transport to Gracklstugh via the Dark Lake. Peebles also offers to act as a guide if the group wants to head to Blingdonstone instead.
In the process of recovering the gem, Azul is exposed to its effect, suffering a psychotic episode, and Gileas falls prey to sticky hands as his Bag of Tricks went missing.
