You Goat a be Kidding Me

After their triumphant return to Phandlin, Krum shared with the group that he was on a mission from god to kill Drow up in Luskan and invited everyone to come along.  Thom and Hyacenth found a local gnome, Pinchwit Wigglehoof, who offered them a boat ride north if they would help him get his goats over to the coastal town of Leilon where his cousin owned a fishing trawler.   The group agreed as this would save weeks of travel time.

The journey to Leilon was more eventful than expected, with the party fighting off hungry ogres and wyverns.  As they reached the High Road, they encountered a group of zombies trying to force their way into the Wayside Inn.   They fought off the undead and discovered the mark of the death god Myrkul branded to the forehead of one of the few remaining zombies.   The people inside celebrated the party’s help and the group settled in getting to know several workers and customers:

  • Martisha Vinetalker, the owner of the inn, a striking half-elf whose pleasing features contrast with her tough demeanor.
  • The bartender, Backes Dunfield, a human with a scarred face and a crooked smile.
  • The cook, Cooragh Struckt, a half-orc who is famous for her incredibly tasty, and alarmingly well-spiced, stews and meat pies.
  • The smith, Teega, who is a strapping young woman who wields a hammer in each hand.
  • Tarbin Tul is a traveling bard who wanders the High Road.
  • A young halfling named Silla Scalesweep.

Questions lingered for the group…

  1. Where did the zombies come from ?
  2. Was Leilon also in trouble ?
  3. Did they want to get involved in this mess or was this a distraction from Krum’s sworn vengeance ?
