After arriving in Yartar, Gileas led the party to an estate managed by Kolbaz, a local representative of the Harpers where he inquired about the gambling chip. He told the group that the chip came from a riverboat casino called the Grand Dame. The Grand Dame does not allow weapons so he suggested finding a less direct way to infiltrate the casino. He also provided information about Krakens based on a question from Rolann, which surprised the rest of the party.
The party pursued two approaches: Gileas was hired on as an entertainer for the casino while the rest of the group established themselves as high rollers, throwing enough of coin around Yartar to make themselves known.
While on the river, the group interviewed a number of crew members and discovered that the ship’s owner, Lord Khaspere Drylund, was known to do side jobs out of Waterdeep and they discovered some symbology later identified as Kraken Society. When the group finally confronted Drylund, he denied any knowledge of wrong doing or how one of his casino’s gambling chips might have gotten off the ship. After being caught cheating at cards, they interviewed the casino manager, Pow Ming, but were convinced that her interests were solely in the casino and did not involve Lord Drylund’s other ventures. Not trusting Lord Drylund, the group decided to disembark and capture Drylund during the casino downtime, but Lord Drylund was nowhere to be found. Iliden pushed to return to Waterdeep and the rest of the party followed him the following day to follow up on other leads.
