Short Synopsis
After a ten-day of research, Xaven and Warlan develop a ritual to banish demonic possession from those cursed by Grazz’t’s demonic trees. During this team, Elanil Elasidel, an elf, raises a massive army of combined races at the Sporedome. In a strategy session, the party offers to go ahead to infiltrate the city of Maerimydra, cure a few cursed fire giants and make their way to the Temple to kill the Queen when the combined army attacks.
When the party arrives at one of the smaller outposts, they encounter three possessed fire giants. They kill one of the fiendborn giants, but manage to knock the other two unconscious. Warlan tries out the ritual and appears to cure them of their possession. They interrogate one of the fire giants and are given directions to the Temple. The fire giant will wait at the outpost for the party to send any other cured fire giants.
After resting a bit, the adventurers sneak their way through the mushroom forests towards the temple. Once the combined army attacks, they launch their own assault against a group shadow demon and fire giants guarding the temple. After disposing of these guards, they hear the heavy stomp of more footsteps coming.
Long Synopsis
In the gloom of the Sporedome, Warlan assists Xaven, the drow alchemist, in developing a ritual to banish the demonic possession from those cursed by Grazz’t’s infernal trees. While the rest of the party waits, the Elanil Elasidel gathers a massive host of warriors to assault Maerimydra. She plans to launch a simultaneous attack against the three main entrances to the city. The party offers to infiltrate Maerimydra ahead of the army and to cure has many cursed fire giants as they can while making their way to the main temple. At the temple, they intend to slay Queen Hledh Hellspawn, the grand-daughter of Grazz’t.
The adventurers make their way to the same small outpost from their earlier visit to Maerimydra. They attack the three fiendborn giants guarding the entrance. One of the fire giants is slain quickly. Baroj knocks out another fire giant and turns his attention to the next fire giant. Unfortunately, this fire giant is known among his friends as “Dagger-Hater”. Baroj breaks his dagger upon Dagger-Hater’s fiery flesh. When Warlan attacks with his own dagger, it is snatched away by Dagger-Hater. Khazad knocks out the last fire giant. Warlan uses the ritual to banish the possession and it appears to work. The fire giant gives them directions towards the temple, but is only willing to wait at the outpost to help other cured fire giants.
After taking a long rest, the party enters the city. They sneak their way through the mushroom forest until they reach the temple. When Elanil’s combined army attacks, the party moves in. They encounter a shadow demon and fire giants. Jax and Baroj charge in to attack the shadow demon while Khazad launches psychic attacks against it. Iluna blasts away with lightning spells and Warlan casts *haste* on himself. They defeat the demonic guards, but hear the heavy stomp of footsteps nearing.
