Full write-up
Rich the Lich has the bright idea that to further the party’s quest to defeat Strahd, they can gain great powers by touching magical sarcophagi. The party finds them in a room with three sarcophagi. Maulduk touches one, shudders and appears visibly shaken when he releases it. He mutters something about it being far too barbaric and costly. Eiric touches another rock, but lets go because he claims it is simply full of empty promises.
The party continues to explore the temple. Honu leads the party through a crevice into a room filled with treasure. While exploring the room, they run into an invisible golem that remains inert at their presence.
After further exploration, they find themselves back in the room where they had met that strange humanoid fox-creature. Eiric leads the way into another passageway, but the group is promptly attacked by three hags and their brooms. Since the lighting in the passageway is dim, Revali has a bright idea and lights up the area around the hags with a fireball. With one shot, the hags are charred and bloody corpses. The party easily defeats the magical brooms.
Eiric continues to lead the party in the explorations. They find another room with valuable looking hawk-like statues. Then he leads the to another room with three sarcophagi.
In the name of science, Eiric announces another bright idea. Eiric, Revali and Hadrioul should touch each of the sarcophagi at the same time to see if there is any special effect. Upon touching the sarcophagi, each of the three finds themselves the recipient of a dark gift.
Revali shrieks as he releases the sarcophagi. Wings made of bones sprout from his back and he flies over to the corpses of the hags. Like a voracious animal, he devours the bones with an untamed desperation. Maulduk is shocked and raises his sword as if ready to attack Revali.
Hadrioul raises up his hand to stop the barbarian. When he does so, he is shocked and sickened to find that he has grown an extra finger on each of his hands. Numbly, Hadrioul turns to look at Eiric.
Eiric stares back at him with eye sockets like melted wax. The artificer grins and at him as if happy with whatever gift he acquired.
Honu and Hadrioul step back while Eiric, Maulduk and Revali open the door to the last room. Will this also be a bright idea?
