Full write-up

After Revali’s and Hadrioul’s fall from grace, the party presses onward into the next room.  It was a sign of the times when the room revealed more sarcophagi guarded by flying undead skulls.  In the twinkling of an eye, Maulduk charges in and takes out two of the flying skulls.  Meanwhile, Rich totters in behind the party.  Honu does not believe that a leopard can change its spots, and challenges the lich’s motivations.  Revali helps finish off the last of the flying skulls.

Rich the Lich offers them a chance to explore more of the temple to possibly acquire greater dark powers to face Strahd.  The party has had enough of the temple and wants to go on the straight and narrow.  Seeing that they no longer see eye to eye with Rich on this matter, the adventurers depart.

As the party rests, Maulduk and Honu discuss the possible methods of curing Revali of his condition.  Honu attempts to remove curse, but it does not work.  The tortle cleric does consider the possibility that prayer to a divine spirit could cast out the evil.

Honu hears sounds approaching the party.  Apparently, the leader of the werewolf pack near Baratok Lake has chased the party down to avenge the destruction of his pack.  The werewolf leader claims to have been sent, by the powers that be (i.e., Strahd), to kill the party or escort them directly to Strahd.  Patiently, Honu and Maulduk explain that since the party had easily crushed the original pack, it would be a bad idea for the werewolves to attack the party.  It seemed clear that the werewolves were not interested in peace.  Although he did not wish to cast the first stone, Hadrioul did cast the first spell – a *spirit guardians* spell.

In a howling rage, the wolves and werewolves attacked.  The party girded their loins for the battle.  Many of the wolves fell upon the spirit guardians’ barrier like lamb to the slaughter.  Revali cast a fireball into the werewolves to baptize them with fire.  There is a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace, and a time for Maulduk to decapitate and disembowel his enemies.  And this Maulduk did to the werewolves.  Honu launched his divine attacks upon the heathen werewolves.  Hadrioul launched firebolts at their enemies.  The wolves and werewolves fell like sheep in wolves’ clothing.  There would be no rest for the wicked.

After defeating the werewolves, the party returns Vallaki to prepare themselves for the upcoming battle.  It is now time to get to the root of the matter.  It was time to fight the good fight.
